About this episode

Craig Campbell watched an affiliate marketer jet ski round the world and decided his agency model was wrong.

Craig Campbell started out working from home as a freelancer, learning digital marketing on the job. Building the agency up until he was running everything himself with no systems, a doctor diagnosed his symptoms as stress and anxiety. He watched another marketer making money from affiliate websites and travelling while he was stuck managing demanding clients and staff. He spent about two years building affiliate websites and e-commerce stores to replace his client income before he dropped the agency work. He began hiring writers overseas because local staff were slower and less enthusiastic. He now runs a mix of consultancy, e-commerce stores, a football podcast and a football trading card business.

He says his approach now is to keep treating new ventures, like the trading card project, as investments rather than businesses he builds himself into.
